Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

The Path to Healing

Trauma can leave a person feeling hopeless and alone - the good news is that treatment can help heal the pain. Evidenced-based approaches, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), are extremely effective in examining the different ways in which current thought and behavioral patterns are contributing to PTSD symptoms. Cognitive Processing Therapy examines the ways trauma has impacted a person’s beliefs about themselves and others and facilitates understanding as to how trauma is informing emotions and shaping experiences in every day life. Through treatment, a person can learn to challenge and modify unhelpful or inaccurate beliefs that keep a person stuck in their pain. CPT is designed to be a time limited treatment of 12 sessions approximately 60 minutes per session.
